In tonight's update, Vince covers: 1) U.S. equities closed slightly higher today after Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said the prospect of a trade war was "on hold". The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 298.20 points, the S&P 500 added 20.04 points while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 39.70 points and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 10.81 points. 2) Crude Oil Futures continued their climb and closed higher by $1.29 on Venezuela and Iran Supply concerns. Gold Futures started the day lower but bounced back to close slightly higher. Bonds were little changed while the U.S. dollar trading higher early in the day but sold off in afternoon trading. 3) An Island Reversal formation is one of the more consistent and reliable technical analysis patterns used by market technicians. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 219.37 points, the S&P 500 added 29.35 points while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 112.22 points and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 14.37 points. 2) Crude Oil posted a loss for the second straight week, U.S. Crude dropped another 3% this week over supply concerns. Gold Futures dropped $6.80 while the positive jobs report resulted in a stronger dollar and a sell-off in the Bond market. The yield on the 10-year treasury note is now at 2.902. 3) The popular FAANG stocks sent the Nasdaq composite index soaring on Friday and look poised to continue their upward trend. In today's update: 1) An odd record-breaking day on Wall Street ends in another mixed close for the major U.S. equity indexes. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 112.97 points, the S&P 500 dropped 8.63 points while the Nasdaq 100 closed lower by 80.05 points and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 10.16 points. 2) U.S. Crude Oil Futures closed slightly higher while Gold Futures fell $8.90 after the U.S. dollar bounced back from yesterdays loss. The yield on the 10-year treasury note edged up to 2.982 as the Bond market traded slightly lower. 3) Facebook broke a record today posting the biggest one-day loss in market value by any company in Wall Street history. Today, after-market close, Amazon (AMZN) released one of its strongest earnings reports ever doubling analyst expectations. Amazon reported EPS of $5.07 versus $2.49 expected and is currently trading higher by 3.5% in the after-hours trading session.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1.58 points, the S&P 500 gained 4.85 points while the Nasdaq 100 closed higher by 43.87 points and the Russell 2000 finished higher by 7.62 points. 2) Crude Oil Futures added $0.26 despite comments from OPEC stating that "the oil market outlook remains uncertain" while Gold Futures dropped $3.60. The Bond market closed lower once again while the yield on the 10-year treasury note continued to climb and is now trading at 2.961. The U.S. dollar held steady after data supporting a gradual schedule of rate hikes by the FED. 3) Tesla (TSLA) announced another 9% cut of its Workforce but traders and investors reacted positively as shares of the automaker added another $8.83 or 2.66%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 115.54 points, the S&P 500 fell 2.15 points while the Nasdaq 100 closed lower by 15.07 points and the Russell 2000 finished lower by 7.69 points. 2) U.S. Treasury yields moved higher after jobless claims dropped by 4000 to a seasonally adjusted 226,000. Gold Futures traded sharply lower and closed down $9.80 as the Federal Reserve meeting is set for next week and the U.S. dollar Index gained $0.40 to $90.15. 3) There were several earnings reports after-market close and three of the stocks making the biggest moves were ADBE, AVGO and ULTA. ADBE beat expectations and was trading significantly higher in after-hours trading while AVGO and ULTA fell in line with expectations but we're trading lower.

In today's update: 1) It's been a brutal start to the fourth quarter after a second straight day of serious selling on Wall Street and around the globe. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company is working with the FBI to investigate the incident but shareholders were spooked resulting in heavy selling. Shares of Facebook closed lower by $4.61 per share or 2.73%.

The Bond market was mostly flat and the yield on the 10-year treasury note held steady at 3.156%. 3) Most Traders and Investors have heard the saying "Don't try to catch a falling knife". Well, Sears Holding Corp (SHLD) is a perfect example why. Back in April of 2007 SHLD was a $195.00 stock and today, after filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, its share price is just $0.28. As painful as this may be to experience, it is a lesson worth learning.
